Optics Group
The Optics Group is actively exploring the design of novel CMOS
photodetectors and imaging sensors. The group is focusing on two main
sensor design activities:
data communicating
sensors and
multi-spectral. The
multi-spectral imager is unique in that each photodetector directly
measures the various wavelengths falling incident on the pixel. A
special case of our multi-spectral imaging sensor is used for
color imaging (where the spectral bands of the
imager are limited to the conventional red, green, blue spectral bands
found in conventional color imagers.
The Optics Group is also supports the design, construction, and testing
of hardware devices that utilize optical subsystems. An example of our
work in this area is the
BiliBox
device which measures and analyzes the spectral absorption properties of
fluids from a lumbar puncture to assist in the diagnosis of possible
stroke victims.
